Mistake 1: Only focus on total volume while ignoring corn bulk density
The bulk density of high-moisture corn with water content between 18% and 20% is 680–720 kg/m³, while dry corn at 12%–14% moisture reaches 740–780 kg/m³, with a density gap up to 9%. We always calculate foundation bearing capacity according to maximum bulk density and reserve 15% dynamic load margin for feeding impact.
For high humidity regions, we adopt spiral structural steel with 0.8%–1.2% chromium content for better moisture resistance. For cold northern areas, 60mm mineral wool thermal insulation layer and vapor-proof membrane are equipped on spiral framework as standard configuration.
Regular cleaning of spiral inner wall is essential to keep stable working efficiency. We set overhaul access holes every 2.5 meters vertically and equip matched long-handle cleaning brushes. Without reasonable maintenance design, the working efficiency of the silo will decrease by one third after 18 months of service.
