17100 Ton Corn and Soybean Meal Storage Project in Wuxiang County, Shanxi
Project Overview
This large-scale grain and feed raw material storage project is located in Wuxiang County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province,
covering professional bulk material storage and standardized silo supporting systems. Facing local seasonal temperature differences,
dry-wet alternating climate and large-volume raw material reserve demands, the client built a complete steel silo storage base for long-term
corn and soybean meal storage. The project includes 9 large-capacity corn silos and 12 professional soybean meal silos, with a total designed
grain storage capacity of 13,500 tons of corn and 3,600 tons of soybean meal, forming an integrated storage system with stable reserves,
safe preservation and standardized management. Liaoning Qiushi Silo Equipment Engineering Co., Ltd. undertook the overall design,
customized manufacturing, on-site installation and commissioning work of the entire silo system.
On-Site Difficulties and Project Requirements
Corn and soybean meal have completely different storage characteristics and environmental adaptation requirements.
Corn is prone to temperature stratification and internal condensation during long-term stacking, requiring balanced ventilation
and anti-mildew control. Soybean meal features fine powder texture, high hygroscopicity and easy caking, which puts forward
higher requirements for silo airtightness, dust prevention and uniform material discharge. In addition, the project requires mixed
storage of two kinds of raw materials with different tonnages, needing classified silo design, independent ventilation systems and
targeted structural optimization to avoid cross-impact between different materials. The whole system must realize long-term safe
storage, low-loss preservation and stable automated discharging operation.
Customized Steel Silo System Solution
According to the material characteristics and capacity configuration requirements, the project adopts classified
professional silo design. A total of 9 steel silos are specially used for corn storage, scientifically allocated to undertake
13,500 tons of corn reserve capacity. The silo body is equipped with a complete set of ground network ventilation
systems and multi-point temperature measurement systems, which can balance the internal temperature of
grain piles in real time, eliminate seasonal temperature layering, and effectively prevent corn mildew and
heat accumulation.
Correspondingly, 12 independent steel silos are configured for soybean meal storage, undertaking a total storage capacity of 3,600 tons. Combined with the easy caking and moisture-absorbing characteristics of soybean meal, the soybean meal silo adopts enhanced airtight structure, optimized internal smooth wall design and professional dust removal configuration. It effectively reduces material adhesion, avoids dead-angle accumulation, and ensures smooth discharging of fine powdery materials without blockage.
All silo bodies adopt hot-dip galvanized anti-corrosion technology, which adapts to the local temperate monsoon climate and realizes long-term outdoor stable operation. The whole project is equipped with supporting feeding and discharging conveying equipment, closed dust removal system, intelligent temperature monitoring linkage device and safety explosion-proof facilities. Each system operates independently and cooperates efficiently, realizing standardized management of corn and soybean meal mixed storage.
Project Implementation and Commissioning
The project was constructed in strict accordance with national grain storage engineering standards and industrial
specifications. All steel plate components, stiffening structures and supporting accessories are precisely customized
according to on-site geological conditions and load parameters. During the construction stage, the team strictly
controlled foundation settlement, silo verticality and welding airtightness, ensuring that each silo has uniform
stress, stable structure and reliable sealing performance. After the completion of installation, all ventilation,
temperature measurement, dust removal and conveying systems passed joint debugging and pressure testing,
and all indexes met the design standards for grain safe storage.
Operational Effect and Project Value
After the project was officially put into operation, it successfully realized classified and high-quality storage
of corn and soybean meal. The 9 corn silos maintain stable grain temperature throughout the year, effectively
controlling grain loss caused by condensation and mildew. The 12 soybean meal silos solve the common
problems of powder caking, wall adhesion and difficult discharging, greatly improving the utilization rate of
soybean meal raw materials.
