Damuren Animal Husbandry's 20,800-Ton Steel Silo Project Completed, Fortifying the Safety Line of Feed Storage

03-01-2026

Recently, the large-scale steel silo storage project of Harbin Damuren Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Damuren Animal Husbandry") was officially completed and put into production. Created by a professional warehousing solution provider, the project consists of 10 units of 1,500-ton steel silos and 16 units of 300-ton steel silos, with a total storage capacity of 20,800 tons, specifically designed for storing core breeding raw materials such as corn, soybean meal, and premixed feed. The commissioning of the project will completely solve the feed storage bottleneck in Damuren Animal Husbandry's large-scale breeding and inject strong impetus into the high-quality development of the enterprise.

As an influential large-scale breeding enterprise in Northeast China, Damuren Animal Husbandry has an annual breeding scale of over 500,000 pigs and 100,000 cattle, with huge demand for feed and strict requirements on quality. Previously, due to the insufficient capacity of traditional storage facilities and poor thermal insulation and moisture-proof performance, problems such as feed mold and nutrient loss occurred from time to time, which not only increased breeding costs but also posed potential threats to the health of livestock and poultry. To solve this problem, after multiple investigations and screenings, Damuren Animal Husbandry finally decided to construct a high-standard steel silo storage project to meet the demand for safe feed storage under large-scale breeding.

The completed steel silo project has been customized designed by fully combining the feed storage characteristics of Damuren Animal Husbandry and the cold and humid climate characteristics of Harbin, with significant core advantages:

Scientific capacity configuration to adapt to diverse needs

The project adopts a precise configuration of "large silos for main materials and small silos for separate storage of auxiliary materials": 10 1,500-ton large silos are specially used for storing core basic feed raw materials such as corn and soybean meal, with a single storage capacity of 15,000 tons to meet the basic feed supply for large-scale breeding; 16 300-ton small silos are used for classified storage of refined feed categories such as premixed feed and vitamin additives, with a total storage capacity of 5,800 tons. This effectively avoids cross-contamination between different types of feed and ensures the accuracy of feed formulas.

High-quality process guarantee to resist extreme climates.

In response to Harbin's climate characteristics of low temperature in winter and heavy rain in summer, the steel silos are made of high-strength galvanized steel, combined with a 300g/m² thickened zinc layer and polyurethane thermal insulation coating, forming a triple protection structure of "anti-corrosion + thermal insulation + moisture-proof". The internal temperature of the silos can be stably controlled above 5℃ and the humidity below 13%. Even in severe cold weather of -30℃, it can effectively prevent feed from freezing and mold, reducing the feed loss rate from 8% of traditional storage to less than 1%.

Intelligent management and control upgrade to improve operational efficiency. The entire storage system integrates an intelligent IoT monitoring module, with multi-dimensional sensors such as temperature, humidity, and material level installed in each steel silo. Staff can real-time grasp the feed storage status in the silos through the central control system. When abnormal temperature and humidity or insufficient material level occur, the system will automatically issue an alarm and link with ventilation and feeding equipment, realizing intelligent and unmanned management and control of feed storage. The efficiency is improved by more than 60% compared with the traditional manual inspection mode.

"The completion of the steel silo project is a milestone breakthrough for our enterprise," said Zhang Wei, General Manager of Damuren Animal Husbandry. "The storage capacity of 20,800 tons can fully meet our annual feed storage demand, so we no longer have to worry about raw material shortages or storage losses. Moreover, the intelligent management and control system makes feed storage safer and more worry-free, directly reducing operating costs, and also providing a stable and high-quality feed guarantee for the livestock and poultry we breed, further enhancing product competitiveness."

It is estimated that after the steel silo project is put into production, it can help Damuren Animal Husbandry reduce feed loss by more than 1,800 tons per year and save costs by more than 3 million yuan. At the same time, the stable feed supply has also laid the foundation for the enterprise to expand its breeding scale, helping it achieve the goal of increasing the breeding scale by 30%.

The completion of Damuren Animal Husbandry's steel silo project is not only an important measure for the enterprise's own supply chain upgrading but also provides a reference model for the feed storage upgrading of large-scale breeding enterprises in Northeast China. In the future, with the popularization of intelligent and standardized warehousing facilities, it will further promote cost reduction and efficiency increase in the breeding industry, and contribute to rural revitalization and the high-quality development of modern agriculture.
